Back Story: Returned home after school run weds, whilst parking hit the kerb & heard a ‘hissing’ sound! Tyre totally flat left front passenger side! Nightmare, what do I do?? Searched online for ages for same day service- no one could do it! Then thought I would try The Baldwin Garage as it was only around the corner from me. Left a message & a lovely lady rang me back ( didn’t get her name). Arranged for a lovely, helpful, friendly chap to drive round to me, took car back to the garage & within less than 30mins- car was back with me- job done- stress over!! Thank you so very much!! Just wanted to say many thanks to you both, and Richard, for fixing my Toyota Rav4 this morning, when I appeared unannounced on your forecourt with an RAC van ‘in tow’ (pardon the intended pun!)  Whilst I appreciate that fixing cars is your business, I doubt every garage would have been so welcoming and helpful first thing on a wet Monday morning to someone who turned up not booked in. Very grateful for the courtesy car to get me to work too (25 September, 2017)!

Main dealer said my brake pads needed urgent attention. Booked in here. Within 30 minutes, told there was no urgency as still 5000 miles left on the pads. John and Sean should be applauded for their refreshing honesty! I could have been duped and been no wiser. Praise to Ray, Emma and all the staff (23 January, 2017).

Just thought I’d drop you a line to compliment you and your staff. [Mechanic] suggested stripping the pads, re-greasing and re-assembling, rather than replacing the pads, which was unnecessary. Kudos to Baldwins Lane S/S, who saved me money with this suggestion. Your guys appear to have cured what Citroen couldn’t! I will continue to monitor the brakes (noise) and should it re-appear, I will return the vehicle for the pad replacement, as suggested. Efficient service. Prices always good. Never charge for unnecessary work/items. Always call to inform you about work and price before going ahead. Friendly. Always take you through the various checks and work/ advisories so that you know what they have done and what it means (21 February 2016).

This was a repair after a breakdown. The garage accommodated the repair to ensure we were mobile again very quickly. They were really busy but managed to complete the work and return the car clean. The staff were very professional whilst retaining a friendly approach. Recommend them (18 January 2016).


I have used this garage for three years. Every time I have been happy with the work. Each year the cost of the service decreases. Very happy with the work and my car has never had problems (14 July 2015).

I had to have my car looked at for a slipping clutch this week.  I called only the end of last week and you fitted me straight away – and you’ve worked wonders again!  I’ve been using your garage for a lot of years now and I can honestly say I have confidence in all the work you do and know you won’t do anything if it’s not required.  Your charges are reasonable too – I have had no qualms about recommending you to others.  All your staff have proven to be honest, open and trustworthy always and again were just as helpful, polite and friendly as they’ve always been; this week they excelled themselves again, John has such patience and is just great at explaining to my layman’s brain exactly what is what without coming over as condescending and he ensures I understand the situation completely every step of the way.  I never feel anything is too much trouble and I always come away knowing my car has been in good hands and is the best it can be – and they even washed it too!  Better service could not be found.  A big thank you to all the team from me – and my Golf (24 March 2015).

Baldwins Lane Garage staff are professional yet friendly, and take the time to explain things in terms you can understand. They do not make you feel inferior or stupid just because you are female and do not understand car mechanics; and neither do they try to ‘rip you off’ because you are female.
